Abrasion: The grinding away of a pavers surface with a power-driven tool.

Absorption: When a weight of water is saturated into a paver unit. Often referred to as a ‘rate of absorption’ or as a percentage.

Aggregate: Used for base materials and mixed in with cement to make concrete, it typically contains crushed stone, gravel and sand.

Asphalt: a highly sticky liquid that occurs in crude petroleum.

Base or Base Material: A layer of aggregate, it provides backing to the sand and pavers, particularly when compacted powerfully.

Compaction: The use of equipment to forcefully pack soil, base material and sand bedding.

Driveway Sealcoating - sealcoating is the process of applying a protective material to the surface of the driveway. Sealcoating seals the top of the asphalt, avoiding water from soaking into the surface of the pavement and protecting the top layer of asphalt from oxidation and wear triggered by exposure to sun, air, and water.

Driveway: Driveways are short private roads that lead to a house or garage.

Hardscaping: the man-made structures used in landscape architecture; for example patios, pathways or walls.

Hot Top Asphalt Paving: Asphalt pavements are an engineered blend of aggregate (stones and sand) with liquid asphalt cement (a petroleum product). The aggregates are heated, then mixed, in exact proportions, with asphalt cement that has been liquefied at about 300°F. Then after paving, the mixture cools and hardens so that you can drive and park om it shortly thereafter.

Patio: a paved outdoor area adjoining a house

Sealer: A liquid solution which coats and protects pavements. Sealers help with waterproofing, color enhancing and stain removal.

Sediment: matter that settles to the bottom of a liquid. Sediment, such as soil, can be transported and deposited elsewhere due to the effects of water, wind, gravity and ice.

Walkways: a passage or path for walking along, especially a paved passageway connecting different sections of a building such as a home or a wide path in a park or garden. Contact us today for a free quote.
